What do you value? What is most important to you?


So often we can feel a dissonance within ourselves. We can struggle to identify what we want or need which can lead to difficulty making decisions.


By learning to answer the questions above, we can help connect our head and our heart. When we live life according to our values, or said another way, according to what is most important to us, we often become more confident and at ease about what we want and need which can make making decisions
easier.


So how can you figure out your values? Here’s a guide to help.

What is Your Dream?

Is there a circumstance that is keeping you stuck or is fear blocking your dream? You may be dreaming of a job change, an adventure, a goal or taking steps to make a relationship better. In 2022, I faced one of my fears. I have a fear of heights. So I committed to climbing the Manitou Incline in Colorado. The incline is 2,768 steps straight up the side of a mountain. The elevation at the top is over 8,500 feet. This undertaking is no small feat for someone with a fear of heights and not in the strongest physical shape. During this endeavor, I became aware of powerful truths about myself and how I am capable of much more than I give myself credit for. I bet you are too!

Managing Stress

We have all been there – in our youth, as students, oversleeping and missing the bus for school. As adults, getting a flat tire that causes us to be late for work. These everyday moments are stressful, but when do daily stressors become cause for concern? It may surprise you to learn that not all stress is bad! In fact, research performed at the Mayo Clinic has revealed that healthy stress can help individuals become more resilient. For example, anxiety about an upcoming exam may help to motivate students to study and be better prepared for their test. The key is learning how to combat stress and anxiety before stress becomes chronic and inhibits one’s ability to function in their daily lives.
