MS Clinical Psychology with Counseling Specialization - Walden University

My story has inspired and empowered me to come alongside the broken and hurting. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to sit with people during some of the most difficult seasons of their live’s. Although our life’s story can sometimes have roadblocks, I believe that healing and peace are possible when people come together. My goal is join you in your journey, sit with you during the difficult seasons, work with you to overcome the roadblocks and develop a renewed sense of self and life’s joy.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my Husband and dog, Banks. We enjoy being outside during both the winter and summer. We walk, run, hike, bike, play pickle ball, camp, ski and ice skate. In the summer I also enjoy spending a lot of time in my vegetable garden! One of the most important things to know about me, is that I am a huge MSU fan - GO GREEN!

My Approach

My approach to counseling is determined by the clients I see. I have been trained in multiple different techniques. I use this knowledge and the needs and desires of my clients to determine how I approach counseling. This method allows me to be more person-centered and helps my clients create a story they want to live. I will also use cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as acceptance and commitment therapy to help a client become more empowered to over come life’s challenges. I am also trained in EMDR, for individuals that want to overcome past trauma and intrusive memories and thoughts.

What you can expect

Counseling is difficult and requires a lot of courage. I begin therapy, with this in mind. The relationship between the client and therapist is the most important part of change, so we will spend time getting to know each other, allowing you the space to feel comfortable. I will work hard to create a space that is warm, welcoming and safe. Once we have gotten to know each other and you are ready, we will begin our work. Therapy is a collaborative journey, where both client and therapist are working to make changes and reduce barriers to change. Collaboration allows you to drive the session and for me to come alongside to educate, support and encourage.
