MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Spring Arbor University (In Progress)

Everyone has their own life story. Our experiences and perspectives are all unique and so are the challengers that each person faces in life. As a counselor I have the privilege of helping my clients explore their own journey and perspective, by working with clients to identify challenges and struggles that impact their life and use the strengths they already posses and learn new skills to work towards overcoming those challenges.

Outside of work I love being outside especially hiking, camping and fishing. I also enjoy playing disc golf, pickle ball, building legos, and cooking. Finally, I love to spend a lot of time with my wife and dog playing games or watching a movie.

My Approach

I approach counseling with an understanding that there is not a single theoretical approach that can fit with every individual ad their needs. The theoretical approaches to counseling I draw from are primarily from person centered therapy and behavioral therapy. While I primarily use these approaches I may also include other approaches when it would benefit my client.

What You Can Expect

I understand that counseling can be a daunting endeavor. What you can expect when  you come in for counseling is that I am ready to listen and am preparing an environment where you are free to discuss your experiences at your pace. You will be in a space where you do you not have to worry about rejection and will be treated with respect and can come as you are. The first few sessions will be used to get to know each other and explore and learn about your life story. We will also identify problems you would like to improve and establish a plan together to accomplish those goals!
