There are many things that each one of us have experienced. These experiences have shaped us all in a unique way. The moments that we have faced may bring on positive emotions or feelings that are hard and painful to hold. I believe that it is important to recognize each of the thoughts and emotions we experience, giving them the space they deserve, while working toward growth in how to cope with emotions that feel incredibly hard to carry. My story is one that showed me how important it is not to hide the emotions that you feel and push them deep inside. I have found freedom in being able to share and have found strength in challenges through support from others. There is a gift in having support and a space where one can be raw and real about what they are feeling. My hope is that I will be able to walk along side of you and support you in your journey of growth and healing.
When I am not working or doing schoolwork, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I particularly enjoy game nights. I love going on walks and getting dairy free ice cream with my husband. I also have a passion for serving within the church and utilizing my gifts in ministry.
My Approach
I recognize that each person is different. There is not a particular mold of counseling that every person can fit into. There is not one way to approach it. My desire is for your experience in our sessions to be tailored to you. I want to hear your story and be able to empower you to work through and lean into what you are carrying. I will listen, offer encouragement and help facilitate conversation when necessary. I tend to utilize practices from the CBT and Person-Centered theories. I also would love to utilize Faith Integrated practices upon request. Ultimately, I want our sessions to be a safe environment for you to process in a way that is most helpful for you and your growth and healing.
What You Can Expect
It is a big step to decide to reach out for help. I understand there can be a lot of emotions tied to even that decision. I want to welcome you with grace that allows you to feel safe and known as you walk into our sessions. There may be times when our sessions feel challenging, but do not be discouraged. Good work can be hard work sometimes. I will strive to listen well and create with you a plan that progresses you toward healing and hope.
