Protect Your Peace

It is no surprise or secret that every individual human being has a variety of issues, troubles, and challenges going on in their life at any given time.

No matter the severity of the issue, any feelings that come with it are real because you are the one feeling them. It doesn’t matter how calm or fiery the feeling is, it is valid. When we feel overwhelmed by our negative emotions, it can be very difficult to practice gratitude and thankfulness. Our battery can become depleted and we can become agitated or withdrawn… so what can bring us up out of this downward spiral?

Finding joy.

Finding joy doesn’t mean looking for miracles or large scale things to be happy about. Joy is found in the small crevices of life. Maybe your coffee tastes perfect today, you made a phone call you’ve been putting off, or you hit 3 green lights in a row when you’re running a little late. Joy is not a feeling to be obtained, it’s an opportunity to take in the world around you in small and significant ways.

Finding joy isn’t just a way to get through the day, it’s a way to protect your peace.

At the very core of our anxieties and fears is a hunger and urge to protect ourselves. So, when you are feeling the insurmountable weight of the world, remember that multiple emotions are allowed to exist at once.

Looking for joy does not dismiss or invalidate your pain, but it is a way to help protect your peace. Of all the things we cannot control, inner peace is something we can practice nurturing, and joy is a wonderful catalyst for healing.
