My passion for counseling grows out of my own story, which has been (and continues to be) a blend of joy, humor, pain, suffering and everything in between. Through some of those challenging experiences, I found myself sitting across from a counselor and learning how to engage my story in an authentic and compassionate way. My firsthand experience in this propels me to offer support and kindness to my clients.

One of my favorite moments in a session with a client is the moment where they gain insight into their story and pair this with a practical way to move forward. I consider it a privilege to join my clients in asking the hard questions, sitting in the tension of life when it’s painful, confusing and lonely. I believe that hope is the environment which allows us to change, and will direct my clients towards the rich beauty and meaning that can come out of the deep suffering in life. Finally, I empower my clients with resources and tools they can utilize outside of therapy to enrich their life and relationships.

Outside of the office, you’ll find me trying new recipes, hiking or being active, reading a good book and hanging out with my husband and friends.

My Approach

I approach counseling with the utmost respect for each individual and their experiences. I believe that each person’s story is unique and that change occurs in a supportive, empathetic environment where someone is attentive and walking alongside you. With empathy and kindness, I use a client-centered, trauma-informed narrative approach to first hear your story, followed by a strengths-based approach to empower you to experience success. Areas I often focus on include trauma, sexuality, gender and spirituality. Theories I regularly use include narrative, attachment theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and body based mindfulness.

What you can expect

You can expect a safe environment where you are fully believed and treated with the utmost respect. I will work collaboratively with you in every session to reach your goals and will equip you with the practical tools and resources you can use in your journey. During our sessions, I will guide you towards insights and offer unconditional support towards creating the healing and positive changes you are seeking for your life.
