MA Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Spring Arbor University
Despite our best efforts, none of us can avoid experiences of fear and anxiety, sadness and grief, loneliness and hurt, confusion and shame, anger and betrayal. It doesn’t take being on the journey long to realize we can’t do it alone. In the midst of deeply painful experiences, relationship is the fabric through which we experience healing and hope. This has been my story. Trusted friends and mentors have provided safe spaces to be fully known and loved, without judgment, while feeling vulnerable and broken. My passion is to be on the journey alongside you in both sorrow and hope.
When I’m not working, I love quality time with family and friends most. I love a good board game, rock climbing with friends, movie nights with my wife, and generally all things outdoors.
My Approach
I approach counseling acknowledging that no singular theory can be sufficient enough to meet each of us in all the complexity of our stories. My approach to counseling is generally rooted in internal family systems (IFS) theory, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and attachment theory. In focusing on your story and on a strong therapeutic relationship, we’ll together discover the most helpful path for you in pursuit of wholeness and healing.
What you can expect
You can expect a safe space to be heard, to be seen, and to experience the invitation to explore your story together. You can expect your story to be honored and seen with dignity - to be received without judgment. You’ll be invited to come as you are and not as you should be. We’ll work together to discover a path forward that equips you with the tools you need as you live out your story.
