MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling - Marquette University
BA Child Life - Aquinas College
My name is Connor Kassuba and I received my masters in clinical mental health counseling from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in May of 2025. During my graduate program, I spent a year and a half working as a counseling intern at a practice similar to Second Story Counseling. Although my counseling experience and education is more focused on working with children, adolescents, parents and families, I have experience working with adults and older clients as well. Before beginning my masters program, I worked as a preschool teacher in the Grand Rapids area for almost 3 years. I received my bachelors degree from Aquinas College in 2021 in child life specialty.
When I am not working, I am always listening to music, walking outside, playing hockey, fishing, camping, golfing, and cooking. I spend a lot of time with my friends and family, and I enjoy a mixture of time with lots of people and time to myself.
My Approach
With my experience and education working with children I bring many elements of play therapy into my counseling with the children and adolescents I work with. With all my clients, I approach the relationship and work we do with skills and techniques from solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) all from a person-centered approach. When working with children and adolescents, family therapy and working with parents/caregivers is crucial and is incorporated into the work I do as well.
What You Can Expect
Building healthy, professional, and fulfilling relationships is a goal and skill I believe everyone can benefit from working on and having in life and is the first goal I have for all of the people I work with. My goal is to work together with my clients to find how best I can help you where you are in your journey. Each individual is different and I expect each person I work with to be a little different and while working together I hope to help you grow along the way.
