"There is beauty in the journey, regardless of the outcome. Let's grieve and hope, and fight together." -Marie White
Everyone's journey through mental health is different in some way, but I believe there is always one truth that is important to address- Healing is not meant to be done on our own. Oftentimes we silently struggle in hopes that we can resolve our problems without other people knowing, but I believe that it is in inviting others into our brokenness that we can truly become the person we want to be. My hope as a therapist is to provide a space for you to be seen and heard, exploring what is going on in your head and your heart. Through our work together, let's equip you with tools to become who you want to be and live a life that is full of hope and enriched by love and support.
When I'm not working, I enjoy expressing myself through creativity (most likely with a cup of coffee). I enjoy cooking, writing music, creating art, playing games and building Lego. Exercise has also become an important part of my routine, whether at the gym or walking through Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
My Approach
I believe it is important to look at well-being through multiple dimensions that are often interconnected- mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. There are many different components that shape and influence our experience, and my goal is to tailor my approach to best fit my clients needs and experiences. Some people want to explore the past or future, while others want to focus on the here-and-now. Either way, there are tools that I utilize through the frameworks of Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and more.
What You Can Expect
When you come into my office, know that the time and space is yours and yours alone. I believe a large part of what makes therapy successful is how I am able to connect with my clients, and building trust and rapport takes time, which is a process that I do not rush. In our first few sessions, we'll likely spend time getting to know one another to best understand your experience and how we can make therapy a place where you thrive. I like to work collaboratively, acting as a guide through your mental health journey that walks alongside you, but will never be forced to share something you are uncomfortable with, and I will always do my best to pace with you in conversation, healing and growth.
