MA Marriage & Family Counseling - University of Akron
My personal and professional journey has shaped my belief that growth and change are possible for everyone—and that we rarely achieve them alone.
It can be difficult to see a clear path forward when you’re in the middle of your own story. Seeking support and guidance can be a powerful, life-changing step, especially when you find a clinician who truly understands and connects with you.
Throughout different chapters of my own life, I have faced challenges where reaching out for help became a turning point. Those experiences sparked meaningful growth that I continue to build on today. They also inform the way I show up for my clients—with empathy, authenticity, and a deep respect for each person’s unique journey.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with friends and family—preferably with great food involved—and going for walks with my two rescue Huskies. I have a love for both indoor and outdoor plants and have found creative ways to garden year-round here in Michigan.
I also have a well-known passion for Halloween. Over the years, I’ve built my own spooky yard haunt and continue to add to it each season—it’s one of my favorite creative outlets.
My Approach
I take an integrative approach to counseling, which means I tailor sessions to fit your unique needs and goals. I draw from modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based work, and solution-focused therapy to support insight, growth, and practical change. When working with children and families, I integrate principles from Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Solution-focused and Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Strategic Family Therapy. My style tends to be more active and directive, meaning I will often guide sessions, offer feedback, and suggest specific strategies to help create change. I focus on strengthening connection, understanding behavior in the context of relationships, and identifying patterns that may keep clients feeling stuck.
What You Can Expect
Therapy can feel intimidating, and finding the right fit is an important part of the process. I prioritize taking time to get to know you and creating a safe, supportive space to explore the challenges you’re facing.
Together, we’ll build trust, clarify your goals, and develop practical strategies to help you navigate this chapter of your story. Above all, I focus on fostering a strong, respectful therapeutic relationship where you feel supported, understood, and encouraged throughout the process.
