My own story has brought me to the place where I deeply desire to understand the stories of others. Every person is a compilation of their life experiences, no matter their age or stage, and that informs how they operate. Going through one's own challenges often leads to wanting to walk with others through theirs, which is the basis for why I am enthusiastic about this profession. Every person carries pain with them, and that pain can always be transformed into something good. It is with realistic optimism that I am able to encourage my clients in the midst of their trials.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my cousins, reading, watching (almost) any professional sport on TV, writing, eating(!), watching old movies and TV shows, returning to Disney World whenever I can, listening to 1930s jazz, and putting up with my sister's wild but loveable dog.

My Approach

While I do not believe any one theory fits everyone, nor does one theory perfectly fit one person, those which I gravitate towards include narrative, existential, and solution-focused therapy. Since each client is an individual, even while part of a family, couple, or group, it is important that they are treated as one who receives care and concern specific to them. I firmly believe it is necessary to understand where a client is coming from and the life experiences which have brought them to this point in order to serve them well.

What you can expect

First and foremost, you can expect that I will listen. The importance of feeling and being heard is what I strive to communicate to my clients; if they do not feel heard, then little else matters. I exist as a counselor to support my clients to the best of my ability, however that may best suit them. Issues of grief and trauma are my specialty, with a particular interest and appropriate focus in human sexuality, though I am equipped and will do my best to assist with any challenge the client presents or will help them find someone who can.
